We had to make and experiment with fake blood to see which best suited us with our sub genre when we begin to film our horrors. There are different types of edible and non edible blood which we can make ourselves in a short amount of time with little ingredients;the different types of fake blood there are, are:
- chocolate fake blood
- simple fake blood
- realistic recipe
- Gravy blood
- cheap 'n' easy blood
- realistic looking mint blood
-1/2 c. warm water
-4 tablespoons corn syrup
- 1 tablespoon powdered cocoa
-1 tea spoon of red food colouring
When we made chocolate fake blood we had to blend the water and cocoa powder together and then add the rest of the ingredients whilst mixing. We then had to let it sit for a while and get the bubbles off of the top, finally adding the yellow food colouring this gives it the colour of the fake blood by making it a weird red colour which is a bit darker.
simple fake blood
-clear corn syrup
-red food colouring
-milk (optional)
The simple fake blood has clear corn syrup which is poured into a bowl and then you have to mix in the red food colouring, you can also add blue...in this case we did because the colour was much more realistic. If you add milk the fake blood will look darker and possibly thicker.
realistic blood recipe
-2/3 c. corn syrup
1/3 c. warm water
-5 tablespoons of corn starch
-4 teaspoons of red food colouring
-1 tablespoon of powdered cocoa
-2 drops of green or yellow food colouring
the realistic fake blood recipe involves the ingredients above and you only have to simply mix the corn starch with the water in some sort of bowl and stir in the corn syrup at the same time. Slowly add the food colouring checking the colour because it needs to look realistic blood colour.
gravy blood
-gravy granules
-red food colouring
-hot water
this is a very easy recipe...all you have to do is make the gravy as normal and you can make it runny or thick depending on how you want it to look;add the red food colouring.
Cheap n easy blood
-plain flour
-water
-red food colouring
-1 tablespoon of coffee
With this recipe first of all you need to boil the water and sieve in the flour so it goes in to the water nicely and there is no lumps. It should look nice and thick by this point so then next you add the food colouring. You add coffee because it will look bright red before adding in the coffee, make sure it is hot.
Icing Sugar Blood
-small amount of icing sugar
-few drops of red food colouring
-if too thick add water
Tomato ketchup or sauce blood
-squeeze 10 teaspoons of ketchup into a bowl
-add 6-7 fl oz or 200ml of water
-add a few drops of dark red edible food colouring
-add a teaspoon of corn syrup
-mic together well, and spoon onto desired area
