What is a storyboard?
A storyboard is basically a summed up version of your plan for your film, for example a sequence of pictures which are drawn which represent and display your film which will be eventually created. Not only is a storyboard made up of pictures it is also made up of other things such as writing with your angles, shots, dialogue, directions and characters in each scene. A storyboard is useful so that you can look back at it to remind yourself and your group of your ideas and initial plans at the start when you began to do it,this is so that you dont forget anything and leave your ideas behind.

This is a good example of a storyboard. It doesn't matter which way you put your storyboard around as long as it is in order and makes sense to you and an audience so if you were to look back at it you would know what it means. This is a good example of a storyboard because most importantly it has detail in the text and the image but the pictures are not as important as the actual text because this includes shots, angles, directions and says about the actual scene. Our storyboard will be very similar but it may possibly go across rather than going down. This storyboard has images so that the scenes make sense and it goes with the text on the right.
Our own storyboard
On our storyboard as you can see the first few boxes explain our opening title sequence. The very first box shows what our idea of our distribution company was going to be and what sort of theme we wanted to go behind it. The second box was the horror part of the distribution company this is an eye getting penetrated with a needle, this is relative as the production company is called "Lethal injection". The third picture was of a hallucination of someone, this is meant to be what happened after the needle was put into the eye. the last part is of someone walking towards the camera quickly then a flash comes up and a skull fractional appears on the persons face, we will use this character in the background as he looks like the main character in our film. We had an idea of having a little boy who looks like the main character in our film so that we could switch between past and present throughout the film;this would give the audience an idea of why the main character is violent. The cameras movement is stationary during the first bit just after the opening title sequence because the little boys face is close up to the camera but in the dark so it makes it look more effective. We will use high angle views in some shots so that the little boy gives off to the audience that he is alone, depressed and comes across as innocent in certain shots that we do. We will use close up shots on fur to make it look like a fox and then this shot will switch over to another shot of a little boy which will make him look alone and depressed... this will be a high angle and also a few neutral shots. In this scene of the storyboard there will be voiceovers. We will have one of our actors doing a voice over, explaining the troubled life of our killer. This will be a extreme close up shot of the actors mouth not showing the rest of his face so it looks suspicious. Towards the end of the storyboard that we have done there is another close up of a the child version of our killer which will then fade into the adult version of our killer. There will still be a voiceover going on at this point. After that we have decided to do a neutral shot of the killer threatening the victim which we will probably film somewhere darker and which looks more of a big room to make it look creepier as there were only going to be 2 people during this shot, the location of this shot will be in a cellar. |
