Initial practice shots are the shots which we practiced and they didn't seem to work out. Some of the shots that we had to repeat because they weren't up to our standard that we wanted.
This shot above we had to repeat quite a few times because the match kept going out as when the male was talking in the shot it was putting out the flame. We had to make sure that the male who was holding the match and the person behind the camera wasn't breathing over the match so that it stayed for the time being that it was lit for. When we filmed this we had to make sure that the flame wasn't covering the topless male so it gave off that he was in danger to the audience.
We began to film this shot at school but it wasn't dark enough or effective to make it look realistic so we decided to do it in a basement. We decided to do it in a basement because when we filmed this shot at school it wasn't dark enough and we didn't have the correct lighting as well as all the pe equipment being behind the topless male. Another problem with filming this shot at school was that when it was being filmed we couldn't get the correct position for the camera because otherwise the topless male was facing straight at the camera.
When this shot was filmed in the basement it had to be quite dark and you had to be able to see the victim and the killer/threat to the audience because otherwise you couldn't see what was happening. We also wanted it to be effective by having the area of the location we used to be visible as it was small and dark. First of all we had a close up of this shot but then when we changed it around we decided to have it as a neutral shot so that the audience felt involved and you could also see shadows too.
This particular shot was chosen as a close up as it highlighted what was being thrown around the victim. This shot also highlighted that the victims legs were tied up. This shows the audience what is actually happening to the victim as from another shot you cant see his feet very well.
We had to repeat a lot of the shots that we originally chose as they did not work as well as we thought they would and we had to find the right angle. The reason why we had to find the right angle and shot was so that the characters weren't looking directly at the camera.
