In What Ways Does Your Media Project Use Develop or Challenge Forms Of Conventions Of Real Media Projects?
- In our opening sequences, one of the main challenges we was that we chose to have a black actor as our killer. In horror films it is very rare to have black actors in them let alone the killer being a black actor. Also this goes against the whole idea of the black guy die first as he is the killer. However the film 'CandyMan' features a supernatural black killer as the antagonist, very similar to our antagonist. However our film is similar to certain horrors and thrillers such as "Candy Man" and "Switchback', both of these films also feature a black killer/antagonist
In our opening title sequence we have a black male as the killer and so does candyman. There isn't many films which have a black male as the killer and there aren't any females involved throughout our opening title sequence. Our main inspiration was parts from paranormal activity, evil dead, candy man ,you're next and World War Z. Wes cravens theory and idea of removal authority sort of fitted in with our storyline as we have a young male who had suffered with problems since he was younger because his parents didn't bring him up like they should have.

Going with conventions
|
In our opening title sequence there is a clip where it almost looks like CCTV because
the young male is being watched and it looks like he is about to do something so then
it makes the audience feel anxious and it creates tension. This scene above uses a
high angle which we also used in our own opening title sequence. The CCTV
can make an audience feel scared or nervous because it always makes people feel like
something is about to happen.
