our risk assessment
We need to take out some precautions before we begin to film because of some risks. The risks are:
1-filming in the dark
When filming in the dark it will be very hard to see so there is a risk of hitting your head or tripping over objects on the ground, which could lead to minor or even serious injuries. In order to prevent this from happening we will make sure that the it is visible enough in the dark to see thing that could cause harm. If one of these risks are to happen than depending on how serious the injury is we will seek medical attention.
2-fake blood
Edible: When using edible fake blood we have to be careful with the ingredients as the actor using it could potentially be allergic to them. This could cause an allergic reaction which in some cases could make a huge risk to that persons life, so in order to prevent this we will check if the actor has any allergies and if so make sure that we do not put those ingredients in the fake blood we make for that character. There is also a risk of the actor choking on the edible fake blood which could be very dangerous so we will make sure that they are careful when having the fake blood in their mouth. If they are to start choking than medical help will be needed and in some extreme cases the heimlich maneuver may need to done.
Non-Edible: Non edible fake can contain many chemicals so when using this type of fake blood there is a risk of it getting into the eyes which can be very painful and cause damage to someone eyes. In order to prevent this, we will try to keep the fake blood away from the actors eyes. If it does happen, we will wash their eyes with warm water immediately in order to wash out the fake blood. If their is any rash or irritation to the eye after, than medical attention will be needed.
3- Filming in the cellar
When filming in the cellar there are quite a few hazards that can cause harm. This is because there are many piles of broken wood and rusty nails sticking out which can cut somebody if not careful. Also there is a tripping hazard if some of the wood is mislaid. In order to avoid this we made sure to create a open space and a safe root around the cellar. Also we made sure that there was a light on at all times. If somebody is to hurt themselves, than we will make sure that medical attention is given as soon as possible.
4-Using Matches
During one of our shots we have a small flame from a match. This is a risk because if to come into contact with flammable items, it can cause them to set a light which can burn your skin and cause a larger fire. When using the matches, we will make sure the matches are away from the flammable objects. Also once finished with the matches we will put them out and put them in the bin. If somebody is to burn themselves than we will immediately apply cold water to the area and than seek first aid.
